MAG (Massive Action Game) Review

When I first took a look at some actual in-game footage from MAG, I was somewhat intrigued. The game modes looked to deliver an intense multiplayer experience that would keep me ultimately entertained for a decent amount of time.

After getting my hands on a copy and popped that sucker into my console I became immersed in a massive multiplayer game that was sure to require team work, as well as taking strategic position and fulfilling objectives. However what I found out was that in order to fulfill these objectives you would need to work as a team. This key element, from my experience, did not exist. Everyone that I played with, even myself, was so kept up in the classic "lone wolf" assault.

You may asking, "What does this have to do with the game", or saying that,"It is the players not the game." The game lacks the element of an incentive system for working as a team. Sure, squad leaders can mark objectives for their team to assault for extra points, but it is not enough to encourage team conquest.

The game offers a fun and exciting multiplayer that is guaranteed to keep anyone entertained for a decent amount of time, but every game feels the same. If you have played the same game mode, on the same map for twenty or so games and counting then things are going to feel repetitive. Yes there are a total of three different maps on the disc with only four game modes, but still everything feels the same.

The reward and upgrade system is decent. You have the ability to earn experience points based on your performance in each game, you can then use those points to purchase attachments, guns, armor, gadgets, and more for use in battle. With each team comes a different gun, but they all correspond equally with price for performance.

Was it a mistake for me to buy MAG? No, I found it fun for a long time and it fed my multiplayer shooter stomach for a long time, but if you are someone who has access to a more in-depth shooter, i.e Call of Duty, then you probably not going to devote much time to MAG.

Overall

MAG offers a way for players to work together to complete objectives, however with a lack proper incentive for doing so the opportunity is usually ignored.

Lasting appeal depends on the player. If you are someone who is used to the action of another shooter you probably are going to stray from engaging in MAG for extended periods of time.

The rewards system is truly amazing. With a large amount of weapons and gadgets available for purchase, as well as character customizations, changing up the way you play is always available.

Batman: Arkham City Review

Video game sequels can get a bit dull now-a-days, especially when developers start spewing them out as if they were rendered on a mechanical manufacturing line. Since we, as a gaming community, are exposed quite often to sequels that were "rushed out of the gate", we might be getting ourselves into a terrible dilema. However, there are some sequels that just blow you away. With mind-blowing mechanics, a simply amazing plot, and a noticeable step up from the previous release. Arkham City is sure to completely transform anyone who gets their hands on this game into the Dark Knight. Plot      In the previous release, Batman: Arkham Asylum, the facility on Arkham Island is left in ruins thanks to the menacing Joker's all out plan. In desperate need for a new facility to imprison Gotham's most dangerous thugs, Professor Hugo Strange is elected warden and is given approval to set up a new facility in the slums of Gotham City. In an attempt to ...
