The Top 5 Games of 2013

Whether we like it or not, the end of the year is quickly rolling upon us. What a great year it has been for the gaming industry. We had the release of two brand new "next-generation" consoles which were welcome additions to both the Playstation and Xbox families (that is really exciting). However, I'm not here today to talk about hardware. Today is the day that I highlight my list of The Top 5 Video Games of 2013! Queue the annual collage! 5. Battlefield 4 (Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, PC) Why did it make the cut? Battlefield 4 has the potential to be the top-tier competitive first-person shooter on the market. With the capabilities of spawning massive 64-player battles on next-generation consoles and PC, the game is definitely a plus for multiplayer fanatics out there. With fluid gameplay, a revitalized mechanic and graphics engine and flat out beautiful scenery, Battlefield 4 delivers one of the most amazing games, in my opinion, that the ...

Turtle Beach Ear Force P11 Unboxing and First Impressions

Cheap gaming headset with actual quality may be extremely hard to come by. A good rule of thumb, which goes without saying, is that forking out more for a product will ultimately increase the initial return and satisfaction of the product. However, when I came across the Ear Force P11 from the infamous gaming audio manufacturers known as Turtle Beach I wondered if my general assumptions were "outdated" or over-generalized. Well after a decent inspection of the P11 I soon discovered that some shortcuts were implemented in order to provide the product to the public at an amazing price of $59.99 in good old United States currency. The Turtle Beach Ear Force P11 Unboxing          One of the very first things that I noticed about the headset that completely screamed "turn off" was the simple fact that it was tethered to a massive cable. This cable is required to be plugged in to your PS3, or PC in order to function (yes, it draws its power...

Portal 2 Review (PS3)

To be completely honest, Portal 2 was one of those games that I was weary to give a shot. It, too me, just looked completely ridiculous. I kept telling myself, "there is no way in hell that I am going to be wasting my time on such a twisted game lacking a sense of reality." Well, this last week I got my hands on a copy of Portal 2 for my Sony Playstation 3. Now I guess you can say... I am thinking with Portals.      Just to give you guys a simple plot overview, you awaken as an apparent "lab rat" at the Aperture Science Facility to a very agitated artificial intelligence bot. Well guess what? Apparently the world has gone "apocalyptic" according the cute little android with a British accent. Now you find yourself (the only human being) trying to locate your precious Portal gun, which allows you to get from Point A to Point B quickly. As you and your new pal Wheatley attempt to escape the facility, the very pissed off AI in charge ...

Batman: Arkham City Review

Video game sequels can get a bit dull now-a-days, especially when developers start spewing them out as if they were rendered on a mechanical manufacturing line. Since we, as a gaming community, are exposed quite often to sequels that were "rushed out of the gate", we might be getting ourselves into a terrible dilema. However, there are some sequels that just blow you away. With mind-blowing mechanics, a simply amazing plot, and a noticeable step up from the previous release. Arkham City is sure to completely transform anyone who gets their hands on this game into the Dark Knight. Plot      In the previous release, Batman: Arkham Asylum, the facility on Arkham Island is left in ruins thanks to the menacing Joker's all out plan. In desperate need for a new facility to imprison Gotham's most dangerous thugs, Professor Hugo Strange is elected warden and is given approval to set up a new facility in the slums of Gotham City. In an attempt to ...

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Review

Unfortunately I am yet to embark on the quest with fortune hunter Nathan Drake that launched the Uncharted franchise. From what I hear, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was miles away from it's predecessor. Being someone who played and loved the second installment to the series, I took upon myself the quest to get my hands on a copy of Uncharted 3 on it's release day. Now I come to you today and say,"I have done it, Oh yes I have done it!"

Battlefield: Bad Company Mini Review

Have you ever wanted a First Person Shooter game to have a destructive element to it. Digital Illusions CE has created just that with it's release of Battlefield: Bad Company. In this explosive game you will find, in both campaign mode and multiplayer, that almost everything can be destroyed. This game is truly amazing and will forever be known as a classic.      The campaign mode is decent, but the real reason that most people buy this game is for the online multiplayer. When playing online you will find yourself landing into high paced vehicle based games. Everything in this game is centered around vehicles. Take to the skies in an Apache Helicopter and unleash an explosive rain on the opposing team below. Lead the ground assault by climbing into a Tank and release shell upon shell on the enemies defensive emplacements, buildings, vehicles, and everything else. Take a naval approach to the battle by attacking the opposition along the coas...

(PS3) Little Big Planet 2 Review

Just a graphic I put together showcasing some, not all, of the cool things about LBP 2.      When you think of a game that grants the player the ability to do what they want, you are thinking of Little Big Planet 2. With over 30 story mode levels, over one million community levels, and the ability granted to the player to do whatever they want to, Little Big Planet 2 is a great investment considering the potential that you acquire with the purchase of one game. This game is a must have for anyone, and everyone who owns a Playstation 3. What can I expect when I first launch my copy of Little Big Planet 2?      When you launch your copy of Little Big Planet 2 on you PS3 for the first time you are given the option to transfer all of your content from the original Little Big Planet, provided you are logged into the account that you used to play Little Big Planet. This feature enables all of your content from LBP 1 to be used in LBP 2. This wa...

MAG (Massive Action Game) Review

When I first took a look at some actual in-game footage from MAG, I was somewhat intrigued. The game modes looked to deliver an intense multiplayer experience that would keep me ultimately entertained for a decent amount of time.      After getting my hands on a copy and popped that sucker into my console I became immersed in a massive multiplayer game that was sure to require team work, as well as taking strategic position and fulfilling objectives. However what I found out was that in order to fulfill these objectives you would need to work as a team . This key element, from my experience, did not exist. Everyone that I played with, even myself, was so kept up in the classic "lone wolf" assault.      You may asking, "What does this have to do with the game", or saying that,"It is the players not the game." The game lacks the element of an incentive system for working as a team. Sure, squad leaders can mark objectives...
