Whether we like it or not, the end of the year is quickly rolling upon us. What a great year it has been for the gaming industry. We had the release of two brand new "next-generation" consoles which were welcome additions to both the Playstation and Xbox families (that is really exciting). However, I'm not here today to talk about hardware. Today is the day that I highlight my list of The Top 5 Video Games of 2013! Queue the annual collage!
Battlefield 4 has the potential to be the top-tier competitive first-person shooter on the market. With the capabilities of spawning massive 64-player battles on next-generation consoles and PC, the game is definitely a plus for multiplayer fanatics out there. With fluid gameplay, a revitalized mechanic and graphics engine and flat out beautiful scenery, Battlefield 4 delivers one of the most amazing games, in my opinion, that the FPS genre has ever seen.

The studio behind the original Bioshock made there comeback this year with the pivotal release of one of the most beautiful games I have ever seen. Ladies and gentleman, Bioshock: Infinite. Without a doubt crushing it's predecessors, infinite topped the chart receiving an outrageous amount of praise for story, graphics, acting, gameplay mechanics, and more. If you are one of the few who have yet to play this masterpiece, I strongly suggest you add this to your Christmas list.

5. Battlefield 4 (Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, PC)

4. The Walking Dead: 400 Days (Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC)
Why did it make the cut?
Serving as an episode to bridge the gap between Telltale's The Walking Dead Season 1 and Season 2, the 400 Days content download testified to fans and players alike that the developers had vastly improved the abilities of the game. With sharper and more defined graphics and a top-notch story about death and survival, 400 Days is a must have game for all fans of The Walking Dead.

2. Grand Theft Auto 5 (Xbox 360, Playstation 3)
Why did it make the cut?
It had been nearly five years since the release of a massive scale Grand Theft Auto title (with the exception of several mobile games), but personally for me Grand Theft Auto 4 had not become stale, which was great. Then I got my hand on Grand Theft Auto 5. It felt like an all around different game, but at the same time had the GTA feel I know and love. It's an open-world masterpiece with remarkable graphics, considering the hardware. Behold the awesomeness that is this record breaking game.

1. The Last of Us (Playstation 3)
Why did it make the cut?
The imaginative and revolutionary team at Naughty Dog sure know how to mix story with gameplay. In 2013, the critically acclaimed developers of the Uncharted franchise, unleashed the brutal tale of a couple of survivors hell bent on making it across the country. Along the way they faced hordes of crazed fungus coated monsters and, perhaps more life-threatening, other survivors in a kill or kill be world. Naughty Dog crafted a world where morals must be quickly set aside in order to ensure survival. This is the Last of Us, and it is by far my favorite game of the year.
