Gears of War 3 "Fenix Rising": New Maps and Features to Come

New Gears of War 3 Expansion pack to come. Get all of the details.

The team behind Gears of War 3, consisting of Microsoft and Epic Games, will be releasing an expansion pack for the game. Titled "Fenix Rising" the package is said to bring a variety of brand new multiplayer maps and features to the Locust torn world of Gears of War.

One map that has already been exposed is titled "Academy" and is said to be where Marcus Fenix, one of the main protagonists of the series, was on his way to attending. Now the ruthless Locust horde had set their sights on the Academy and transformed it into a war torn facility.

The Academy

With the Academy map included, the "Fenix Rising" expansion pack is to bring a total of 5 fresh multiplayer maps, and the ability to enter a mode similar to the Call of Duty prestige in which they can reset their multiplayer progress and climb the ranks once more.

Expect this GOW3 expansion pack to hit the Xbox Live Marketplace, and Windows versions of the game, on January 17th.

Video game sequels can get a bit dull now-a-days, especially when developers start spewing them out as if they were rendered on a mechanical manufacturing line. Since we, as a gaming community, are exposed quite often to sequels that were "rushed out of the gate", we might be getting ourselves into a terrible dilema.
